ASPHALT OVERLAY OF ASABA/ILLAH ROAD (FROM SUMMIT JUNCTION TO GOVERNMENT HOUSE) ASABA, OSHIMILI SOUTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

The asphalt overlay of Asaba/Illah Road, from Summit Junction to Government House in Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Area, under the administration of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is aimed at rehabilitating the existing road surface to enhance its durability and performance. The length of the road is 3.2km x 2 sides = 6.4km, average width from summit junction to interbau roundabout 15m, average width from interbau roundabout to government house gate 12m, area of scarification 4,000m2 and area of sections for overlay 85,600m2. The scope of work for the overlay of the dual carriage road includes scarification of sections of undulating surfaces, removal of unsuitable materials, earth fill, pavement surfacing consisting of laying of stone base and HRA binder course on the failed section, overlaying of HRA wearing course on the entire 3,200m length of the dual carriage road and thermoplastic road markings.

This intervention will improve traffic flow, reduce vehicle wear and tear, and enhance road safety for commuters. It will also facilitate easier movement of people and goods, support commercial activities, and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of the area, particularly along this important route leading to the Government House.
