INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT AT IGIOGWA PRIMARY SCHOL, UTE-ERUMU, IKA NORTH-EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

The infrastructural development project at Igiogwa Primary School in Ute-Erumu, located in Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State, was undertaken to improve the physical learning environment and address critical infrastructure gaps affecting primary education delivery. Many rural public primary schools operate in dilapidated classroom structures with inadequate furniture and limited sanitation facilities, which hinder effective teaching and learning. The project therefore focused on rehabilitating and/or constructing classroom blocks, providing desks and chairs for pupils and teachers, and upgrading essential amenities such as toilets and water points to create safe, functional, and child-friendly learning spaces.

Through these improvements, the intervention is expected to increase enrolment, strengthen attendance and retention, and enhance teacher effectiveness and learner participation. The project supports equitable access to quality basic education and contributes to community development priorities in Ika North-East LGA. By ensuring that children learn in secure and dignified environments, the initiative advances progress toward Sustainable Development Goals on Quality Education, Clean Water and Sanitation, and resilient infrastructure, thereby promoting long-term human capital development in Ute-Erumu and surrounding communities.
