INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT AT OVIRI-OKPE SECONDARY SCHOOL, OVIRI, OKPE LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

The infrastructural development project at Oviri-Okpe Secondary School in Oviri, located in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, was undertaken to improve the physical learning environment and address infrastructure deficits affecting secondary education delivery. Many public secondary schools operate with aging or inadequate classroom facilities, insufficient furniture, and limited sanitation amenities, which hinder effective teaching and learning. The project therefore focused on rehabilitating and/or constructing classroom blocks, providing desks and chairs for students and teachers, and upgrading essential facilities such as toilets and water points to create safe, functional, and conducive learning spaces.

Through these improvements, the intervention is expected to enhance student enrolment, strengthen attendance and retention, and improve the overall quality of teaching and learning in the school. The project supports equitable access to quality secondary education and contributes to community development priorities in Okpe Local Government Area. By ensuring that students learn in safe and dignified environments, the initiative advances progress toward Sustainable Development Goals on Quality Education, Clean Water and Sanitation, and resilient infrastructure, thereby supporting long-term human capital development in Oviri and surrounding communities.
