RENOVATION OF THE POINTER NEWSPAPER OFFICE ASABA, OSHIMILI SOUTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA.

The renovation of The Pointer Newspaper Office in Asaba, located in Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State, was undertaken to restore and upgrade the physical condition of the state-owned media facility to support efficient information dissemination and administrative operations. Over time, the office infrastructure had deteriorated due to wear, aging, and environmental exposure, affecting staff productivity, safety, and the quality of media production processes. The project therefore focused on rehabilitating the building structure, refurbishing workspaces, improving electrical and mechanical installations, and upgrading essential office facilities to create a safe, functional, and modern working environment.

Through these improvements, the intervention enhances the operational capacity of The Pointer as a public information platform, supporting timely news production, editorial activities, and communication services to the public. The project contributes to improved working conditions for media professionals and strengthens the institutional role of the newspaper in promoting public awareness, transparency, and civic engagement across Delta State. Overall, the renovation advances progress toward Sustainable Development Goals on resilient infrastructure, decent work, sustainable cities, and strong institutions, reinforcing the role of public media in socio-economic development and democratic governance.
