INFRASTRUCTURAL UPGRADES AT ANWUFA PRIMARY SCHOOL, EKWUOMA AND ADAGBA PRIMARY SCHOOL, OWA-OFIE, IKA NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

The infrastructural upgrade project at Anwufa Primary School in Ekwuoma and Adagba Primary School in Owa-Ofie, both located in Ika North Local Government Area of Delta State, was undertaken to improve the physical learning environment and address key infrastructure challenges affecting primary education delivery. Many public primary schools in rural communities operate in aging or dilapidated buildings with limited furniture and inadequate sanitation facilities, which negatively affect teaching effectiveness and pupil learning outcomes. The project therefore focused on rehabilitating and/or constructing classroom blocks, providing desks and chairs for pupils and teachers, and upgrading essential amenities such as toilets and water facilities to create safe, functional, and child-friendly learning spaces.

Through these improvements, the intervention is expected to increase pupil enrolment, strengthen attendance and retention, and enhance teacher effectiveness and learner engagement. The project supports equitable access to quality basic education and contributes to community development priorities in Ika North LGA. By ensuring that children learn in safe and dignified environments, the initiative advances progress toward Sustainable Development Goals on Quality Education, Clean Water and Sanitation, and resilient infrastructure, thereby promoting long-term human capital development in Ekwuoma, Owa-Ofie, and surrounding communities.
